Payroll Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and timely while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role will work closely with Human Resources, Accounting, and employees to support all payroll-related functions. 70-75k - DOE

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, and/or semi-monthly payroll for employees.
  • Review and audit timecards, payroll data, and employee records for accuracy.
  • Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and tax withholdings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Process new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, bonuses, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, benefits, and payroll discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with HR on employee status changes and benefit deductions.
  • Prepare payroll reports for management, accounting, and auditing purposes.
  • Assist with payroll tax filings, W-2 preparation, and year-end processing.
  • Support audits and maintain confidentiality of payroll information.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for 100+ employees preferred.
  • Knowledge of California payroll laws strongly preferred.
  • Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, Ceridian, or similar systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
